Yashica FX-3 This camera belongs to my dad but he is not using it anymore. From now on, i'm responsible for it. He bought this in 1981 if i'm not mistaken when my sister was born. Pictures of us growing up was taken from this camera. This poor little thing was dead when I first got it. Very dusty with fungus all over so I sent it for repair/service just before the new year. Working fine now and I just cant wait to see my shots from it. Any of you still have one of these?
P.S - Was taken by using DIY lightbox.
I have a blog too you know, click here!

I love it -- a photo of a camera! Great idea. You should definitely hold onto that camera, take pictures with it and post them to the blog. I look forward to it.

@GJC: Thanks so much. I will finish the film and scan it and will post it up once it is ready.
That really is a camera from the past. I never had one of these myself, as my first SLR was a Nikkormat FTn, a kind of Nikon, but not quite.

@Richard_Irwin: Yo, the Nikkormat FTn looks really cool too! Never seen it in real life before but i was googling it up seconds ago.
As a "sister" of the Nikon F and F2 cameras, Nikkormat FTn was based upon the basic body of the original Nikkormat FT, the camera has been widely used by professionals and advanced amateurs the world over during those days as a back up bodies to the professional F body. Many of the users who can't afford the more expensive system oriented professional Nikon F & F2, used this camera as an entry model into the huge and first rated Nikon SLR system. Got it from here.
Awesome stuff.
What a beauty, and yep I sold my first Minolta SRT-201 35mm with zoom, wide-angle and filters...and regretted it ever since, so a few years ago, I bought a Minolta X-700, 50 mm with wide-angle, zoom and a case on e-bay, love it...I should start using it again ;)

@Lorraine: Gosh, bad idea selling it off eh? But its ok, u got urself another one. Yea i think we should start using it again, going old school eh? :) I only have 1 lens on my FX-3. Not that easy to get new lenses.
I have one. Passed down by my dad :) It's a Minolta. That was the first time I played with a SLR (after a brief lesson by mr. Zul) and I love the result produced!

@sllim: Ahh! Cool! I played with the Nikon SLR in the photo studio last time. Mr. Zul was showing it to me. It was really nice then we develop our own pics in the lab. Really awesome. And i hope u still use ur Minolta. Its an awesome SLR.
Un vrai 50 mm! Profites en ;-)

Shooting film is fun, but costly...
24 Jan 2008 2:02pm
@Wolfgang Prigge: Yes, to buy the film and to develop it is kinda expensive.

Gosh... that's interesting, Levine. I'm a beginner here and would love to see the work produced by the camera. BTW, your pictures are awesome!

@Hery: Hey Hery. Thanks so much. I cant wait to see my shots from the FX-3 too. Will update once i have it ready. Thanks again.
I still use it one in a while. but the lens already got fungus. not that bad but it's there la. still can take photos without having black spot hitting the film.

@sllim: I think he should go and send it for service/repair/cleaning or something and make it "brand new".
This is an antique,i am glad you are keeping it!:)Cant wait to see photos you take with it.Is repair very expensive for this camera?
26 Jan 2008 10:32am
@tyan: Well, the cost of repair is RM240. Not sure if it is cheap or expensive but i think it is affordable for something precious. LOL.
hohoho.. We tend to use the film wisely when using the film camera.. looking forward for the pics!!

@r1c3d: Yea same here. I do not simply shoot with the film camera.
Lol. Look at you, being humble and all. But I appreciate your feet laying flat on the ground. Regarding the camera, an SLR is great. I wanna see some shots used with this.. Waaaah! I REALLY ENVY YOU MAN.

I was like Rabbit. A Pentax K1000. I no longer have mine though. It was a great little camera though, but I am hooked on the immediacy of digital now. Hope to find time to learn more and find more money to upgrade equipment to DSLR someday.
Your shots are much better, but reminds me a bit of some pics I took of an old broken Argus with a DIY light box. I still have it posted on my old photoblog.
